Song of Skye is our brand new Scottish Ale, inspired by Jamie’s recent trip travelling around beautiful Scotland.
Malty, somewhat sweet, with a sessionable ABV, a Scottish Ale is the drink of dreamers. Lagers are for knocking back on sunny lazy days on a patio or a beach. Scottish Ales are for sessioning in cozy pubs over good conversation, after a day of feeling the salty wind come off the Sound, driving single track roads through the winding country of Skye, chasing the sight of happy sheep and highland cows.
In our tribute to this beautiful, easy drinking but flavorful style of Scotland, we start with Golden Promise as the base malt, one of our favorites, with a bit of Munich to back up that base malt and add some caramelly/bready malty sweetness. Chocolate malt will add some of the richer, fun flavor that builds a sweeter and darker ale than its English counterpart, and Carafa ii will build out the color. Invert sugar will aid the fermentation process and contribute to a desirable caramel presence in the flavor profile as well.
Song of Skye will be available in cans to-go and on tap at the taproom on Thursday 2/22.
